70 years ago today Carole Lombard died tragically in a plane crash coming home to California from a war bond rally in her home state of Indiana. She was with her mother, Bess Peters, her husband Clark Gable’s press agent, Otto Winkler, and 15 army servicemen. Unfortunately there were no survivors of the crash and the world lost a beautiful, talented, and lovely woman.
